Clinics are set up to provide you with specialised care for specific problems. Except where indicated otherwise, clinics are arranged as required at convenient times by appointment. Please contact reception or speak to one of the GPs or Nurses for more information.
The following list indicates the scope of services offered with some brief explanatory notes.
Pre-Booking Clinic
All newly expectant mothers and their partners are offered a 30 minute appointment with the midwife to discuss and plan the months ahead. Please call 01563 825411 to arrange an appointment at Ayrshire Maternity Unit.
Ante-natal Clinic
Child Development Clinic
For children up to 5 years old, this clinic, provided by the Health Visitor and a doctor, carries out checks on your child’s development
Cervical Screening Clinic
A cervical smear test that detects cancer in the neck of the womb can help save your life. Women aged 20-65 are encouraged to have a cervical smear test at least every 3 years. You may choose to see either the practice nurse or a doctor (male or female, by your choice) at any routine surgery, by appointment
Family Planning/Contraception
All the doctors and the practice nurse provide contraceptive advice. Oral contraceptives are prescribed by the doctor or the practice nurse at a normal appointment. Special appointments are required for coil fittings or changes. Emergency contraception is always readily available
Well Woman
Run by a practice nurse, this clinic provides regular check-ups and advice for women of 18 years and over.
HRT Clinic
Check-ups, advice and support to women on or considering Hormone Replacement Therapy.
Immunisation Clinic
The practice offer a full information and immunisation service to parents of children registered with the practice. Immunisation clinics are run by appointment on some Wednesdays in each of the surgeries
Prescription Drug Monitoring Clinic
By appointment – various types of specialist drugs prescribed by hospital clinics require careful monitoring of your blood to detect possible serious side-effects.
The practice provides a monitoring service for these drugs. Appointments are made for blood tests and monthly prescriptions are then issued if the tests are satisfactory. This can reduce the number of hospital out-patient clinics you need to attend
Respiratory Clinic
Check-ups and advice on Asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and other respiratory diseases
Cardiac Clinic
Check-ups, support and advice for those suffering from Hypertension (High blood pressure), Ischaemic Heart Disease and other heart related problems
Diabetes Clinic
Check-ups, support and advice for those suffering from diabetes.
Epilepsy, Lipid & Thyroid Clinics:
Check-ups, support and advice for those suffering from epilepsy, lipid or thyroid problems
Wart Clinic
For the treatment and removal of warts.
Helicobacter Pylori Eradication
Antibiotic treatment of ulcers and associated stomach complaints caused by the Helicobacter Pylori bacteria.
Diet/Weight Control Clinic
For advice and assistance on managing your body weight, including advice and guidance on all aspects of diet and healthy eating
Smoking Cessation Clinic
Smoking is now accepted as being one of the major causes of a number of life threatening illnesses. All patients who smoke are urged to stop. This clinic provides advice, assistance and support to those committed to giving up the habit. Patients may also visit the Dundonald Chemist for assistance with smoking cessation.
Secondary Prevention Clinic
To monitor your health after heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), high cholesterol or a stroke.
Anti-Coagulant Clinic
Patients on Warfarin medication will be invited to attend this clinic if they are not attending a Hospital clinic.
Cancer Referral Clinic
Advice and support to patients who have been referred to hospital for cancer treatment

Learning Disabilities Clinic
If you have learning disabilities or are caring/supporting someone who does, this clinic offers advice and support including guidance on support services available.
