Online Requests
Welcome to our new website! We have taken this opportunity to change our method of online prescription ordering. We can no longer accept prescriptions through our website, however, we would ask that patients who enjoyed using this method register for Patient Access. This is a more secure and user friendly way to order your prescriptions electronically. Simply provide some photographic ID at reception in any of our branches and we will provide you with a registration form to set up your own account.
The easiest way to order a repeat prescription is to register for online services.
Simply log in to the online portal and visit the medication section. You then tick the prescriptions you want.
If the medication you need is not on the list then use the ‘make a custom request’ section and type your request in the box.
Alternatively you can download the NHS Patient Access App from the App Store. Simply login once you are registered and you can quickly and easily order your medication 24 hours per day 7 days per week.
In Person
Repeat prescriptions are made available at each of our surgeries by request to reception staff.
We have a fully computerised repeat prescription system. If you are on regular medication and your doctor does not need to see you every time, you will be issued with a repeat prescription ordering slip. This is attached to your repeat prescription. Please tick the required items on the slip and post the slip in the box in the vestibule outside reception in Dundonald or post the slip to us or hand the slip in to the respective branch.
If telephoning for a repeat prescription, please telephone between 10:00am and 11:30am or between 4:00pm and 5:30pm
Some of our telephone conversations may be recorded.
Please do not wait until you have run out of medicine.
Please note that we require two full working days from the time you order prescriptions to when they will be ready for collection. If you wish we can arrange for your prescriptions to go to a local pharmacy of your choice for collection. Patients are entitled to have their prescriptions dispensed from a pharmacy of their choice. In order to avoid confusion, if you wish to change the pharmacy that you would normally use, please inform the receptionist yourself, in writing whenever possible. We will then update your records so that your prescriptions are sent to your preferred pharmacy.
Medication Reviews
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
Hospital Requests
When you are discharged from hospital you should normally receive five days supply of medication.
On receipt of your medication requirements, which will be issued to you by the hospital, please bring this to the surgery or post via S.A.E. before your supply of medication has run out.
Hospital requests for change of medication will be checked by the GP first, and if necessary your Doctor will issue you with a Prescription. The Practice will endeavour to issue you with your prescription on that day, but it cannot be issued until your medical details are checked by the Doctor, your prescription should normally be ready by 4pm on that day, or you may be advised to attend the next day.
The Doctors will review your medication, regularly, which may involve changes to your tablets, in accordance with current health Board policies. Please be reassured that this will not affect your treatment.
